Braves Need Extra Innings to Top Naturals, 7-6
|
The timely hitting of Luca Bonds helped the Mississippi Braves take down the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, 7-6, in 12 innings. Bonds belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Braves. Mississippi reliever Santos Porras picked up the win, raising his record to 5-8. Samuel Diamond was tagged with the loss. The misery never ends for the Naturals, who've lost 11 in a row.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 12th. With two out, Bonds hit a fastball from Rafael Aviles for a run-scoring single. The Braves, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Shaun Brown.
