Travelers Improve to 72-37 with 5-3 Win
|
Arkansas beat Chattanooga in a rain-soaked ballgame.
Arkansas Travelers starter Ramón Ortiz pitched a strong game against the Chattanooga Scouts at Dickey-Stephens Park, leading the Travelers to victory, 5-3. Ortiz got the win, improving to 5-1. He gave up 9 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Jack Delgado nailed down the save.
Alex Trudnak had a big 2-run double for the Travelers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Arkansas leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Tray Werling, who is tied for 10th in the SL in strikeouts with 93, and swatted a double to left. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Travelers ahead, 3-0.
"Ramón showed what he's made of," said Arkansas manager George French.
With the win, Arkansas goes to 72-37, while the Scouts fall to 59-50.
