Engineers Ballpark was the site of some high drama.

The Tennessee Smokies could not turn a fine performance from catcher Noah Hawkins into a win. Instead, the Shreveport Engineers prevailed, 6-5, in 11 innings. Hawkins was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Shreveport reliever J.T. Lake picked up the win, upping his record to 7-4. Lonnie Tomlin took the loss.

The Engineers got a clutch hit from center fielder Melvin Goldberg. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Engineers.

"We earned that one," said Goldberg.

Tennessee has now lost 4 in a row.
