The Frisco RoughRiders beat the Corpus Christi Hooks, 9-5, at Whataburger Field. The RoughRiders got a fine performance from catcher Valentin Montano, who went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The RoughRiders saw their win-loss record go to 71-54. At the same time, the Hooks fell to 63-62.

Elwood Akehurst had a big 2-run triple for the RoughRiders in the top of the second inning. With Frisco trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Owen Dutter, who is tied for 7th in the SL in wins with 10, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the RoughRiders ahead, 4-3.

"Winning never gets dull," said Akehurst.
