The Midland RockHounds stopped the Mississippi Braves, 7-3, at Trustmark Park. The RockHounds got a big game from Seung Yun, who went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Neal Carr, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-2. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 3. William Pineira closed the door for Midland, picking up his 2nd save of the year.

The RockHounds got a lift from designated hitter Jamison Southard, who in the top of the second stroked a full count fastball into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the RockHounds ahead, 2-0.

Southard attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
