5 Hits for Jumbo Shrimp Eversman
|
Today at Whataburger Field, Jayant Eversman put on an impressive display.
The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp third baseman tagged Corpus Christi pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Corpus Christi Hooks by the score of 8-7.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Eversman said. "5-for-6 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Jumbo Shrimp manager was unwilling to offer the third baseman much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Jayant told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Craig Lauer said.
Jayant Eversman singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
This year, Eversman has hit at a .374 pace and produced 25 RBIs, 6 home runs and scored 25 runs.
