Blue Wahoos Fall Short, 3-2, at Shreveport
|
Starting pitcher Aiden Rioux held up his part of the bargain, helping the Shreveport Engineers stymie the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, 3-2. Rioux picked up the win for Shreveport, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 9-2. The first-place Engineers have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
The Engineers got a big at-bat from catcher Alex Vose. For the game, Vose was 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Shreveport a 3-2 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Shreveport manager Dustin Booth said.
