Shuckers Get Gritty, 3-2 Win
|
The Biloxi Shuckers and Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
The Biloxi Shuckers topped the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, 3-2, in Southern League action at Biloxi Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Biloxi pitcher and Barrington, New Jersey, native Warren Kahn. Biloxi pitcher Jethro Cobb earned the win, hiking his record to 8-1. Walt Venegas suffered the loss. Ian Mansker wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Shawn Black drove in one run for Biloxi. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Walt Venegas. It was his 7th RBI of the season.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Kahn.
After today's action, Biloxi sits at 48-85, while Jacksonville falls to 49-84.
