Hogs Squelch Kumquats Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Gainesville Hogs got a marvelous performance from pitcher Evan O'Brien. The left-hander kept the Kissimmee offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 6-0 Gainesville victory at Hammond Stadium. O'Brien got the win, improving to 3-6. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. With the victory, the Hogs upped their record to 35-25.
Manuel Guadalupe came through for Gainesville when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike fastball to left field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.
"Coming in, from the get-go, I knew my stuff was good," said O'Brien.
