Roughnecks Zap Sun Dogs, 5-4
|
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Ivory Herring, the Miramar Sun Dogs lost to the Ahwatukee Roughnecks, 5-4. Herring was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. With the win, the Roughnecks have a record of 24-42.
The Roughnecks took the lead in the bottom of the second when Pete Hoyle banged a two-out single. Ahwatukee had been trailing 2-1, but Hoyle hit a 1-1 fastball from Romeo Wong for a 2-run single.
Hoyle told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
