The Hialeah Gales spoiled a good performance by Clearwater catcher Lobo Mateo, bumping off Clearwater, 8-7, at Space Coast Stadium. Mateo was 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Hialeah reliever Jake Otten snagged the win, upping his record to 3-4. Chad Melton shouldered the loss. Clearwater has now lost 4 consecutive games.

The Gales were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 19-year old second baseman Gerardo De La Mora landed a big blow. He turned a full count fastball from Chad Melton into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Space Coast Stadium denizens into a frenzy and sent the Gales home with a thrilling 8-7 win.

"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," De La Mora said.
