Hammerheads Score Late, Upend Catch, 4-1
|
The Cape Coral Hammerheads faced a tough opponent in Oviedo pitcher Odilon Lares, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Oviedo by a final score of 4-1. Lares went 7 innings and allowed no runs. The win was credited to 19-year old right-handed pitcher Michael Peterson in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Kane Lohr took the loss. Cape Coral has won 3 straight, while Oviedo has lost 3 in a row.
Kyle Woodson delivered a big hit for Cape Coral. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hammerheads ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Hammerheads manager Cory Moore.
