Hurricanes Topple Flamingos, 10-3, as Gilliam Shines
The Daytona Beach Hurricanes topped the Fort Myers Flamingos, 10-3, at JetBlue Park. Daytona Beach designated hitter Joseph Gilliam was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 and driving in 7. The Hurricanes improved their record to 28-37 by beating Fort Myers.

With Daytona Beach leading 5-2 in the top of the fifth, Gilliam came up to bat against Fort Myers pitcher Ismael Frias. Gilliam hit a fastball to left-center for a grand slam home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Hurricanes on top, 9-2.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Gilliam told the Daytona Beach Gazette.
