West Palm Beach Gets Another L
|
Not everyone stuck through the 27-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
Fort Lauderdale Pirates starter Mort Wilson was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the West Palm Beach Dolphins, 5-1. Wilson picked up the win for Fort Lauderdale, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-2. Alex Palencia got the save, the 6th for him this season.
The Pirates got a big at-bat from catcher Elijah Drummond. For the game, Drummond was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Fort Lauderdale a 3-1 lead.
"I had everything working," said Wilson.
Fort Lauderdale's record now stands at 39-31, placing them 6th in the Florida Rookie League Southeast Division.
