Gales, Spoonbills Play 13 to Settle Game 2, Hialeah Now Leads Series 2-0
|
Hollywood Spoonbills manager Daryl Dixon took a gamble on 18-year-old starter Tulio Pabon. It paid off, but, unfortunately for the Spoonbills, little else did.
Despite getting a poised performance from the young left-hander, the Spoonbills lost, 5-3, to the Hialeah Gales at Roger Dean Stadium. With the win, Hialeah took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
Hialeah used the timely hitting of Leonardo Ayotte to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Gales on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Spoonbills manager Daryl Dixon did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the R Championship Series."
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, September 13th , 2068 at Space Coast Stadium in Hialeah.
