Quintana Roo got a first-rate effort from pitcher Stanley Monroe, who frustrated Tabasco hitters en route to a 3-1 Kangas triumph at The Roo Zoo. Monroe, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Quintana Roo is first in the La Liga Mexico SouthEast Division with a record of 19-13.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Parker Koster didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Tabasco trailing 3-1, Koster retired Hunter Riddick to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Koster, with a wink.
