Altoona Tops Portland Again, 5-3
|
The Altoona Curve got a strong performance from pitcher Victor Nuttall, who stymied the visiting Portland Sea Dogs en route to a win, 5-3, in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series. The Sea Dogs could never get a bead on the right-handed Nuttall, who threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The Curve now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.
Though he did not get the decision, Nuttall did all he could to keep his team close, twirling a shutout through 6 innings, until Altoona eventually rallied past the Sea Dogs.
"Victor was pounding the zone," said Altoona manager Jose Ortiz.
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Hadlock Field in Portland.
