Black Bears Top Lake Monsters 3-2 to Begin WCS
|
The West Virginia Black Bears powered past the visiting Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-2, in the opener of the Wild Card Series at Dutchess Stadium today. West Virginia starting pitcher Frederick Hilton threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs, to lead the charge. The Black Bears now lead the series 1-0.
West Virginia took control in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, Alexander Balogun hit a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, Black Bears.
"We found a way to get it done," Hilton said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dutchess Stadium in Morgantown.
