Divisional Series Game 1 Victory for Clayton and Tacoma
|
Richard Clayton and the Tacoma Rainiers opened the Divisional Series in brilliant fashion today, shutting out the visiting Nashville Sounds at Cheney Stadium 6-0 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Clayton, the Rainiers right-hander, threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball.
In his 100-pitch effort, Clayton allowed no runs on 1 hit over 7 innings. He walked 3 and struck out 5.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Tacoma manager Danny Jennings.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
