Johnny Thorp and the Round Rock Express opened the Divisional Series in brilliant fashion, traveling to Inland Empire and shutting out the host 66ers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, 2-0, to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Thorp, the Express left-hander, threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Tony Solis? The Round Rock second baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Express on top, 1-0. For the game, Solis had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Solis said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in San Bernardino.
