Kannapolis Tops Hagerstown Again, 5-2
|
Despite a great performance by Hagerstown starter Matías Ferrer, the Kannapolis Intimidators defeated the Suns by the score of 5-2 at Ballpark of Hagerstown today. Ferrer threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball, but he couldn't prevent the Intimidators from moving one game closer to the A Championship Series. Kannapolis now leads the Regional Championship Series 2-0.
Kannapolis used the timely hitting of Timo Pérez to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Intimidators ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"It's a gut punch," Suns manager Adam Reid said, "to get here and find ourselves down 0-2 in the blink of an eye."
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium in Kannapolis.
