Pirates Advance to Divisional Series
|
The Fort Lauderdale Pirates players celebrated joyously after winning the Wild Card Series over the Miramar Sun Dogs tonight at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.
Fort Lauderdale punched its ticket to the Divisional Series on the strength of a 1-0 win in the clinching game, which sealed a 3-1 series win.
"Any time you win a playoff series as a professional it's exciting, but it's even more so when you do it against a team like Miramar," said series MVP Taylor Houston. "We don't know how the Divisional Series is going to play out, but we hope it has the same outcome."
Miramar manager Mike Jefferson only spoke briefly to the media after the loss and said dropping the series is "crushing" for his team.
For the series, Houston had a 2.08 ERA over 4.1 innings pitched. He added 3 strikeouts with a 1-0 record.
The Divisional Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
