Dark Knights Not Competitive in 6-0 Loss to Altoona
|
Bryson Di Cione of the Altoona Curve was on top of his game.
The 26-year-old tantalized the Yonkers Dark Knights with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 6-0.
"He had the changeup working," Yonkers manager Vince Hendrix said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Altoona hurler had 7 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort.
Di Cione told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
Di Cione has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 3-1 record with a 2.44 ERA. The Altoona reliever has limited opposing batters to a .242 batting average.
