Gateway Skunked by Tanner, 2-0
|
In a remarkable performance, Quebec Metros starter Pete Tanner beat the Gateway Grizzlies, 2-0, in an impressive 5-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Metros hurler finished with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Gateway manager Elijah Holmes said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
This season, Tanner has crafted a 3-5 mark with a 5.72 ERA in 56.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .269 against him and he has 31 strikeouts.
