RubberDucks Drop Sea Dogs, 7-4
|
Rodrigo Pazos had a good game, but he could not keep the Portland Sea Dogs from falling, 7-4, to the Akron RubberDucks at Hadlock Field. The Portland first baseman belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice in the loss. Clayton Waite picked up the save for Akron, his 4th of the year. The RubberDucks, now 22-25, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
Akron shortstop Cornell Wade contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the ninth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 43rd hit of the season and put the RubberDucks ahead, 7-4.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Wade said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
