Sea Dogs Win Squeaker, 4-3, Over Bighorns
|
The Lincoln Bighorns got a sterling performance from pitcher Grey Cox, but the Portland Sea Dogs still prevailed, 4-3. Cox threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Portland reliever Lee Miller picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Frankie Carkin took the loss. The second-place Sea Dogs are 29-17.
J.T. Walker, who is tied for 6th in the EL in stolen bases with 8, contributed to the Portland win with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Portland manager Jim Heidkamp.
