Wichita got a strong outing from Bennett Steffel as the Pilots defeated the Erie SeaWolves, 4-2, at Regions Field. Steffel, the winner, moves to 5-0. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Jacoby Renbarger, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 14th save.

The Pilots got a big hit from left fielder Tom Carter. In the bottom of the fifth, Carter pounded a 2-run home run to left. His 5th home run of the season put the Pilots ahead, 4-1.

Steffel told the Wichita Today: "I was born for the big stage."

The Pilots' win now puts them at 29-20.
