The Erie SeaWolves picked up a win at Regions Field, knocking off the Wichita Pilots, 6-1. Starting pitcher Derek Ansel played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Ansel, now 1-3. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. The third-place SeaWolves are 26-26.

Erie used a well-timed hit by Lorenzo Beamer to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the SeaWolves ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Erie manager Chris Jachim.
