Losing Trend Continues for Providence
|
The Erie SeaWolves downed the Providence Crabs, 5-1, the largest share of the credit belonging to third baseman Lewis Brisson. On the day, Brisson went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the SeaWolves. The winner was Jeremiah Rector, who threw 93 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 5 hits. The Crabs, now 12-44, have lost 16 in a row.
Brisson had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 slider from Wallace Wilkes, he banged a grand slam home run to right-center, giving the SeaWolves a 5-1 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Brisson.
"We're learning some lessons in the school of hard knocks," philosophized losing manager Omari Parker.
