Wilson Slugs Frigates to 10-5 Win
|
A 5-RBI performance from first baseman Shawn Wilson, who is tied for 3rd in the EL with a .446 on-base percentage, led the Halifax Frigates to a win over the Hartford Yard Goats, 10-5. Halifax reliever Max Duryee picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Richie Lyness was saddled with the loss. The 5th-place Frigates hiked their record to 22-32.
Halifax used the timely hitting of Richie Carr to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Frigates on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Carr told the Halifax Herald. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
