Providence Defeated by Halifax, 3-0
|
Halifax starter B.C. Ford put a stranglehold on the Providence offense. The right-hander had complete command of his sinker in leading the Frigates to a 3-0 win. Ford went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-4. Colton Romanyuk saved it for Halifax.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Tommy Weese didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Providence trailing 1-0, Weese retired Caden Johnson to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Weese, with a wink.
The last-place Frigates now have a win-loss record of 19-35.
