The Akron RubberDucks downed the Halifax Frigates, 8-4, at Canal Park. The RubberDucks were led by P.J. James. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Hanford Allen went 5 innings for Akron to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 1 run. He scattered 5 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 4. His record improves to 2-0. The RubberDucks, at 27-30, sit in 6th place in the Eastern League Southwest Division.
James contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Akron in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, James took a sinker from Mike Daugherty and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the RubberDucks to leap in front, 2-1.
"We maximized our offense today," said Akron skipper Darren Harris. "That makes everyone's life easier."
