Wichita starter Elton Valentin kept the Erie hitters in check, while his team cruised to a win, 9-2. Valentin, now 4-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Erie's current losing streak is now 7 games.

The Pilots got a big hit from catcher Nick Long. Facing Erie pitcher Walt Murphy in the top of the seventh, Long pounded a 3-run home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season put the Pilots ahead, 9-0.
