Providence Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
The Providence Crabs topped the Akron RubberDucks, 5-4, in Eastern League action at Holyoke Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Providence pitcher and Scott Lake, Florida, native Ferdinand Lane. Providence pitcher Tomas Contreras earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Darion Bennett suffered the loss. Akron now is 1-2.

Bruce McDowell was the walk-off hero for Providence. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Crabs left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said McDowell.
