Rumble Ponies Spill Crabs, 5-2
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Providence Crabs home opener. René Heredia started for the home team against Jacques Gray for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The Crabs were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 5-2, Binghamton. Jacques Gray, though, was impressive. Gray got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 5.1 innings. Gray allowed 1 run.
The Rumble Ponies got a big at-bat from designated hitter Austin Pantoja. For the game, Pantoja went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the top of the first, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Binghamton a 1-0 lead.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Pantoja told the Binghamton News.
