Frigates Drop 11-2 Decision
|
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies used an offensive barrage to beat the Halifax Frigates, 11-2, at MGM Park. Eugene Aguirre led the way, going 3-for-4 for Binghamton. Mike Worthy, the winner, improved to 2-4. He held the Frigates to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The Rumble Ponies move to 42-32 with the win, while the Frigates drop to 29-45.
Binghamton used the bat of Mark Gentry to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rumble Ponies ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
Halifax manager Leo Olvera called the blowout loss "a real dud."
