Somerset Defeated by Binghamton, 8-6
|
Lex Hendry did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Somerset Patriots from being beaten, 8-6, to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at NYSEG Stadium. Hendry went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Devon Vanaman earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. His record is now 4-3. Their 40-33 record puts the Rumble Ponies third in the Eastern League North Division.
Kenon Cormany had a big bases-clearing double for the Rumble Ponies in the bottom of the first inning. With Binghamton trailing 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Justin Pan, the 7th overall pick in the 2064 draft, and swatted a double to center. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rumble Ponies ahead, 3-1.
"We ground out the win," said Cormany. "That's all that matters."
