Wichita center fielder Thomas Jones was a significant contributor in his team's 5-2 triumph over the Halifax Frigates. He went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times for the Pilots. Wichita reliever Gabriel Gapinski was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-0. Kolton Fletcher took the loss for Halifax. Josh Loehr got the save, the 25th for him this season.
Had Jones not come through in the top of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Jones hit a run-scoring single. The Pilots took the lead, 3-2, and never looked back.
"I hopefully can keep it going and try to stay locked in as long as I can," said Jones.
At 48-28, the Pilots are currently third in the Eastern League Southwest Division.
