Pilots Best Fisher Cats in Pitching Duel
|
In a well-pitched game between the Wichita Pilots and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, pitcher Edward Carroll was superb. The Wichita right-hander helped his team win, 2-0. Carroll went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-5. Kendell Trapp recorded the save, his 3rd.
Wichita got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Jesús Patino. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pilots ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"Sometimes a win comes easy," Patino told the Wichita Today. "And sometimes you have to scratch and claw."
Wichita, now 40-35, holds down third place in the Eastern League Southwest Division.
