Skidding RubberDucks Lose 7th Straight
|
The Yonkers Dark Knights withstood an impressive performance by Akron designated hitter Hanford Allen to defeat the RubberDucks, 7-5, at Canal Park. Allen threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Reliever Ashton Schultz picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Owen Franklin took the loss. Leeroy Watson earned the save for Yonkers, his 21st of the year.
Yonkers used a clutch hit from Jaxson Daniels to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dark Knights ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Darren Harris told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
The 6th-place RubberDucks have lost 7 straight games.
