Win Makes Akron 42-37
|
Akron pitcher Damon Gelinas had a large part in his team beating the Halifax Frigates, 6-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Gelinas, now 3-0, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Earning the save was Raymond Darwin. He's now cashed in 4 of 6 save opportunities.
Travis Limbocker had a big 2-run home run for the RubberDucks in the bottom of the first inning. With Akron leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Yoandri Mancilla and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the RubberDucks ahead, 3-0.
Gelinas attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
With the victory, the RubberDucks upped their record to 42-37.
