The Altoona Curve got a superb performance from pitcher Bryson Di Cione. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Providence. The Crabs won the game, 2-1. Di Cione threw 8.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The save was credited to Brandon Dunbar, his 1st. The win puts Providence at 1-1.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Crabs had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when center fielder Luc Tolley hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Bryson Di Cione and made the score 2-0, Crabs. Tolley was 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Tolley. "You've got to get results."
