Pilots Drop Metros, 3-1, with Late Score

Quebec got a terrific performance from pitcher Stan Chamberlain, but it wasn't enough to beat the Wichita Pilots. Wichita won the Metros Ballpark contest, 3-1. Chamberlain threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The win went to Gabriel Gapinski in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Timoteo Centeno took the loss. Earning the save was Josh Loehr. He's now cashed in 27 of 28 save opportunities.
Timo Pérez delivered a big hit for Wichita. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pilots ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"Every loss stings," said Quebec manager Justin Maurer. "This one is no exception."
The triumph puts Wichita at 51-31 for the season.
