Providence Crabs starter Maurício Bazan was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Altoona Curve, 5-3. Jacob Chapman, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. With the win, Providence elevates its record to 2-2.

Catcher Eli Gardner made an impact for Providence, when he swatted a 2-run double off Lucas Parilla in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Gardner went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Maurício was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Providence manager Craig Hodge.
