Altoona Hands Erie 9-4 Defeat
|
The Altoona Curve took Erie pitcher Jace Seney's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Jerry Uht Park. The final score had Altoona getting past the SeaWolves, 9-4. Seney went 5 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 5. Picking up the win was Hunter Rentschler. He went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. The left--hander struck out 1 and walked 3. Eustace Davey closed the door for Altoona, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Altoona used the timely hitting of Catfish Mossburg to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Curve on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Mossburg told a Altoona News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
Altoona is 7th in the Eastern League Southwest Division with a record of 36-47.
