Rumble Ponies Squeeze By Akron, 5-4
|
The Rumble Ponies grabbed a win, 5-4, at NYSEG Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Akron pitcher Ray Ferrer. Ferrer went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Travis Miller was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Nolan Mojica. Binghamton sits at 1-2.
Binghamton got a knockout punch from Mirco van den Vondel. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"The crowd was raucous," said van den Vondel.
