Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Altoona Curve and Gateway Grizzlies.

Despite a great performance by Gateway designated hitter Erubiel Gonzalez, the Altoona Curve defeated the Grizzlies by the score of 6-5 at FNB Field. Gonzalez went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Altoona reliever Zach Durrah was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Bobby Hanna.

Altoona used the timely hitting of Ralph Roland to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Curve on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Altoona manager Jose Ortiz.

Altoona sits in 5th place in the Eastern League Southwest Division at 45-42.
