RubberDucks Cut Down Dark Knights, 3-2
|
The Akron RubberDucks withstood a fine game by Yonkers left fielder Matthew Petrus at Canal Park, to upend the Dark Knights, 3-2. Petrus went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. Akron reliever J.R. Blume picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Donato Kline absorbed the loss. Akron now has a record of 3-2.
In the bottom of the sixth, Akron right fielder Michael Greathouse had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Yonkers hurler Rob Hughes, Greathouse drew a walk, driving in 1 run. That made the score 2-0, Akron. For the day, Greathouse went 2-4 with a double and a walk.
"I was a little disappointed," said Yonkers manager Vince Hendrix. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
