Thomas Stars for Grizzlies in 11-8 Win
|
In a high-scoring contest between Gateway and Portland, right fielder Cole Thomas was a difference-maker. Thomas distinguished himself in the 11-8 Gateway win. He hit 3 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored three times. Oscar Carrasco got the save, the 17th for him this season. With the win, the Grizzlies improved to 34-63.
Thomas had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Maxwell Kay, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Grizzlies a 9-8 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Thomas.
"We got the victory," said Thomas. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
