Pilots Score Late to Upend Fisher Cats, 7-3
|
The Wichita Pilots faced a tough opponent in New Hampshire pitcher Santiago Elias, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium by a final score of 7-3. Elias went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Wichita reliever Alton Stockton picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Norse Jones was tagged with the loss. Wichita, now 51-53, holds down 6th place in the Eastern League Southwest Division.
Hunter Yeo delivered a big hit for Wichita. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pilots ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"We scored more than enough runs this time," said Wichita manager Ryan Coleman. "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
