The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Akron fans at Canal Park.

Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Akron RubberDucks and the Wichita Pilots. Akron won it, 3-0. Akron starter Duff Mendiola was in command. In 5 innings, Mendiola surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed no runs.

Akron designated hitter Jordan Borel contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the RubberDucks ahead, 3-0.

"No one likes losing," said Wichita manager Ryan Coleman. "We've hit a tough patch, but we're going to get through it."
